Design The different jobs in this department are Character Designers, Level Designers. The design department is responsible for designing the characters and levels in the game they basically draw out their designs for the games characters or levels. They will work with the Game Producers as they will need to know there designs and interpret them in the game and add them. Production The jobs in this department are Game Producers, Character Producers and Level Producers. The Department is is responsible for producing the elements in the game and actually making the game. Turn 10 Turn 10 is a games developer. A Game Developer is a company that makes a game and puts everything into the game like the models, levels and 2d sprites/images. Turn 10 is owned by the publisher Microsoft Studios they are used to develop their Forza series. A first party developer is a company who makes a video game console and develops for it like Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony. A second party developer is a company that basically develops games for the first party developers, they are higher up than third party developers. They may have some publishing agreements, but maintain independence. Some examples of second party developers Insomniac Games for Sony, Bungie for Microsoft and Rareware for Nintendo. The kind of stuff you'll do in this role is you'll create the game play for the game you'll script levels and you'll need to balance the game play. Franchised Intellectual Property This means that a game company will need to buy the licensing/rights to a game e.g. EA Sports need to buy the licensing from Fifa to make Fifa games and Sony needed to buy licensing from marvel to make the new spider-man game. Original IP This means that a game publisher e.g. Microsoft makes a completely new game series with new characters and no one else can copy it or they will get done for copyright infringement. It will be a lot harder to get an audience for these kind of games as there won't be a audience already their as it's first in a potentially new series Sequels and Spin-Off Titles These are for games that sell really well and they will make sequels for them e.g. Call of Duty and Forza Horizon.
